The Beaufort Academy Board of Trustees is responsible for governing the school, establishing policies, and managing its overall affairs to ensure the fulfillment of its mission and long-term sustainability. The Board is composed of no fewer than five and no more than fifteen members, who meet regularly on the second Tuesday of each month. The Board is led by an Executive Committee, which includes the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer, and provides leadership and oversight between full Board meetings. Trustees are expected to uphold the mission and values of Beaufort Academy, serve as active and visible members of the school community, and support the school through service on no more than two committees at a time to ensure focused and effective governance.
The Board works in close partnership with and places its trust in the Head of School, who serves as the professional and educational leader of Beaufort Academy. The Head of School is responsible for personnel, daily operations, financial and administrative management, and the overall supervision and advancement of the school. In addition, the Head of School partners with the Board to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan that aligns with Beaufort Academy’s mission and core values. Through this collaborative governance structure, the Board and school leadership work together to ensure strong oversight, ethical leadership, and continued growth in support of Beaufort Academy.
